RPI Zero W + Camera = Fail to take a picture

Sat May 25, 2019 7:47 pm

Hi

I'm trying to use a Camera v1 with a Raspberry Pi Zero W.

When trying to take a picture with command

Code: Select all

raspistill -o test.jpg
, I get the result:

Code: Select all

Camera control callback cmd=0x4f525245mmal: No data received from sensor. Check all connections, including the Sunny one on the camera board
Camera seems to be well connected, red LED is ON when trying to capture an image but I still get the error.

I've switch the SD card & the camera to a RPI 3 with its own camera cable (not the same format between RPI 0 W & RPI 3). Here I can take the picture without problem. So the "Sunny" connector is not involved...

The system is fully up to date (I think). I don't know what to do now to debug the situation :-( (I've already check viewtopic.php?f=43&t=160611)

Do you have any idea ?

Thx :)

What is the output of "vcgencmd get_camera"?

Camera is well detected, raspistill is contacting it to get the picture, red LED is ON.

Here is the response to you answer:

Code: Select all

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo vcgencmd get_camera
supported=1 detected=1

I've switch the SD card & the camera to a RPI 3 with its own camera cable (not the same format between RPI 0 W & RPI 3). Here I can take the picture without problem.
You did prove that the camera works (on Pi3). So it can either be the different cable, or your Pi0 Raspbian. To rule out the OS I would install latest Raspbian on a new SD card, enable camera and see if that resolves the issue. If that does not, you will have to change the Pi0 camera cable.

Ok, we agree, I've already tried with a new SD & Raspbian. Same issue.

I've already ordered a new cable, I hope the new one will solve my issue...

Can it be related to a RPI 0 W board issue ? I'm not so sure, camera is detected, I2C GPIO seems to works, LED on camera is on... I don't find proofs of a damaged RPI 0 W.

"No data received from sensor" means just that - we've setup up the sensor (over I2C), but no data has been received on the CSI2 bus.
Either you have a connection issue on those connections (6 of them) down the flexi cable, or the camera port on the Pi itself is faulty.

Hi- did you ever solve this problem? I'm finding the same results with my camera and RPI 0 W.

Hello,

I've finaly solved my issue. My flexible cable was damaged and the new one I ordered was lost, I had to order a third one... That was so long !

Thx :)
