Sun May 05, 2019 11:05 am

Hello, i have a Wireless IP Camera (model CIPC-GC13H) and i want to connect it to my raspberry pi and make IT as a default camera for RPi. How can i do that ? The only way to control the camera is through to ios/android application but only link with mobile phones... The camera have also WiFi and Ethernet port and supported face recognition, motion detection and night vision. I have found the IP and MAC address of the camera but then what i have to with that ?

Most likely you cant.

But what do you really mean by this ? Do you expect to use "raspistill" and "raspivid" ? What do you want to use the camera for ?

If you mean you want use use it with the 'bundled' camera applications such as raspistill documented here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... /camera.md, or with the Python picamera module https://picamera.readthedocs.io/en/release-1.13/, then I don't think you can use a third-party camera in that way. My understanding is that they are dedicated to the official Raspberry Pi Foundation camera module: https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/camera-module-v2/

Edit: similar to the clarification sought as I was researching this....

This thread hints that it might be possible to make it work with V4L2 applications, but its an old thread.

I don't want to use the camera for raspistill and raspivid commands... I want to use it for a project i'm working on which i will use the camera to capture photograph when a PIR sensor detected a motion...

I'm thinking if i can use this code: gst-launch-1.0 -v rtspsrc location=rtsp://your_stream_url ! v4l2sink device=/dev/video1 from the old thread for V4L2 applications with fswebcam: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... e/webcams/ to control the third party camera and take pictures manually with command: fswebcam -r 640x480 -d /dev/video0 testpicture.jpg

Return to “Camera board”
