NoIR image channels

Wed May 31, 2017 5:37 pm

Hello,

I would like to verify what color channels of images taken by NoIR. Most sources say that images are in NRG (or GRN) if there's a blue filter. Without it, it would be NGB (or BGN).

Your sources are all wrong, there is nothing like a N in there. It is only a missing IR filter. In every other aspect the camera is exactly the same as the normal camera version. You have the same Bayer pattern(with green, red and blue filters). The missing IR filter will allow some NIR light to go through these filters, creating a grey scale like image when only IR light is used. In normal light the colours will look washed out an the amount of NIR light passing to the colour filter will create slightly false coloured images.
