Good day all, I'm new to the boards and was wondering,

Has anyone been able to use the NoIR Infrared Camera Board v1.3 with the Raspberry PI Zero board?

Thanks in advanced!

Should be no different to standard camera, which has been used without issue. As far as I understand, the NoIR is the same camera except missing an InfraRed filter.

jbeale posted a great video about focus changes if you use IR leds

Would be less of problem at distance but close in it would be noticeable.
Birdbox etc
Wish I could say from experience there is no problem with Zero's.
Got a bunch of cameras and projects that have been waiting for them.
Maybe one day some Zero's will make it downunder.
The last time some Zero's made it here was WW2.

Not as yet, to be honest this is the first time I'm working with a pi zero board.

It matters what wavelenth of IR you are talking about. The 850 nm IR leds focus about the same (on the v.1 camera) but the 940 nm light is focused differently by a noticeable amount, at least with that particular lens I was using (which is not the factory-supplied lens).

Using my Noir V1's in daylight I did notice the pictures are fuzzier but at night they much sharper.
This suggests to me they are focused with visible light.
Using them with IR leds, filter out daylight and refocus.
For security two Zeros and two cameras, one Noir, switch over at sunrise/sunset.

There may well be a focus difference, but I also see a contrast difference... a lot of materials that look dark in visible light are still somewhat reflective at IR, so without an IR filter you end up with less contrast at your sensor. A low contrast image can look like a poorly focused image, because small details are harder to see.

Especially green growing things, trees turning pink etc.
Need to find some IR blocking filters, they can be expensive, might be cheaper to use two Pi Zero's:)
Anyone know where to get IR block filters?
Daylight block is just old film.
Wonder if anyone does filter packs for phone cameras?
Rosco and Lee are the usual culprits.
Filter packs for Pi cams?
And M6 lens with knurling for focus adjustment.

IR-cut filter with solenoid and M12 lens mount combined (I made a modified day/night V.1 camera using a similar product; works OK)

IR-cut filters by themselves

Thanks jbeale
Might have to spend some time$$ on ebay.
Those filters look like the ones used on the back of M12 lens.

Seen this before on a post
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Waveshare-Night ... -CHIP-51-H

One seller has 10 packs of M12 lens mounts 18, 22mm pitch, Eye3 and Pi cams
Can even get M12 x0.5 taps for DIY mounts, 15yrs ago had to make one.
GoPro's are M12? 3D printer bits too
