I have a Pi Noir camera module and it all seems to work OK except for constant interference on the picture in the form of horizontal flashes

This makes it useless for motion detection, as the interference triggers the frame change

It's not a uniform thing, it seems random and the best I can liken it to is a bad TV reception.

An example of the output attached (apologies it is a still not a moving image - but you should get an idea what I mean)

I'm thinking i may just have a faulty camera board

The power supply is a branded white RPi one from the RPi shop, so I'd hope not

In that case you should assume your NoIR camera is faulty and ask your reseller for a replacement.

PSUs don't last for ever so could be failing. Also worth checking for cables faults and loose connections in case they are the cause

Fair points - I have a second Pi so I'll swap the PSUs over

If that makes no odds then I will also reseat the camera cable and see how I get on

Cheers all

I've got the exact same problem with my camera module.
Did you ever resolve your issue?

No - I gave up in the end. This was on my Pi 1

Although I just got a Pi 3 so when my Pi 2 becomes redundant I may try again. Pretty sure it's a faulty camera module though
