Pi Cam stopped working

Wed Apr 22, 2015 7:06 pm

Model B running Raspbian

I've had a Pi Cam attached to a model B for some time, albeit one that was used intermittently. Until recently, it was working OK, but now it has stopped. I'd not made any changes to it.

I've tried updating it :

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
and
rpi-update.

vcgencmd get_mem gpu gives me :
gpu=128M

running
raspistill -o test.jpg

I get :

mmal: mmal_vc_component_enable: failed to enable component:
ENOSPC
mmal: camera component couldn't be enabled
mmal: main: Failed to create camera component
mmal: Failed to run camera app. Please check for firmware updates

I've tried a different Pi Cam, but the result is the same (the second Pi Cam was brand new).

Any suggestions as to what to try next ?

Thanks

Adrian

I have a similar issue and just posted the same issue here (no responses yet): viewtopic.php?f=43&t=108076&e=0

Problem identified !

It seems that you can't run motion and vlc or raspistill at the same time, turning off motion allowed me to run vlc and raspistill (I didn't try both at the same time).

There is another thread on this :

An observation, rather than a complaint, it would help if the error messages were a bit clearer on this.
