Yeah, I'm not sure it's gonna fit either, but I'm not sweating because the Ras-Pi is not finalized AND I don't put much credence to Chinese manufacturing tolerances either. I'll wait for my keyboard to arrive and 'till I put my dirty mittens on a final model B before I worry too much about it.

Two options:

1.- I'm thinking to put a RPi inside a cheap USB keyb and make extra holes for a USB hub and run a HDMI cable to a LCD TV (USB hub = WiFi USB dongle + SD cards + webcam ... ) or

2.- Put my RPi inside a small plastic case+USB hub, connected to LCD TV and check email, movies... no facebook :) in my sofa/bed with a wireless keyb

Once the board is finally launched we'll be designing a case for the board anyway.. so if you need a case get in touch and i'm more than happy to sell some on - you'll just need to do your own CE certification work beyond that. Not punting for biz but if you need a case and want it personalised in quantity let me know.

I'd love to fit it into a keyboard, along with an portable HDD.

I'm planning that very idea using my Amiga 1200 fully intact and connecting it via usb using a keyrah - (see link). There would even be room for power cells to make it portable.

Then I'm thinking - maybe A600 portable with screen - just because it would get some strange looks on the train lol

Then just for fun I might emulate the A1200 with UAE on the Raspi.

The Keyrah is great - You can even fit it inside Commodore 8 bit machines!

Here is a logo on my idea for a case.
It is a tart pie tin with a piece of raspberry colored plexiglass on top.

With all this talk of cases, is there any way, please please please purity please, that the board can be red instead of green. That way when we show off our 'berries' they actually look like raspberries. I would pay additional monies! =)

Maybe something for r-pi 2.0.

i do like the lego idea alot..nice logo also... u in the competition?

im thinking something similar to the ebox-3300 were you can add the unit easily to an existing monitor..
or something ultra thin with a velcro sticky pad so you just stick it next to the hdmi on the monitor..

I will show you my project and see what you think.
This Is an old BTC AT keyboard.

This an interior picture with bottom removed.

This my conversion from AT to PS/2 and then an active adapter to make it USB.

Picture of bottom plate, as you can see there is about 1/4" more room if the bottom plate is flattened out. giving about 1 1/4" room the fit the Raspi into, I also plan on installing the powered hub (that has is outer casing removed) into this keyboard.
The USB ports on the Raspi, one will be soldered to the active keyboard adapter and the second one will be hard wired to the powered USB hub.
I am planning on using a 12 volt power supply and a 5 volt regulator to power the hub so only one power adapter will be needed I also think there is room for this HDD setup.

USB To Mini USB cable and SATA adapter.

The first picture shows a USB cord and SATA adapter that came out of a WD passport drive, and the second picture is shown with a 2.5 HDD for a size comparison, (yes the drive is a PATA).
The HDD will be attached to the hub for its power of course.
The Active PS/2 to USB adapter was donated to the project from Lobo who is my real life sibling.
I plan on also wiring in an old Pentium processor fan to get rid of any heat the drive might produce.
The keyboard used to make this post was on a Pentium 4 machine running UBUNTU 11.04 (which is loaded on the 120Gb HDD I will use) with this Keyboard.
120 Gb HDD is a little over kill perhaps, but will hold lots of pictures and music Etc. for the Raspi to access.
The 4 port hub I have chosen will have 2 or 3 ports left open to attach a mouse, USB WIFI etc.
If you are more worried about ,spelling, punctuation or grammar you have probably already missed the point so please just move on.

There's another discussion thread going on about a stand-alone MAME box using the R-Pi.

http://www.raspberrypi.org/for.....#038;t=587

I'm cross-posting a little here, but here's the case that I would suggest - it's a custom arcade stick that I made. The addition for the R-Pi is that there's plenty of space inside the case to put an R-Pi and you could make extra ports in the case to interface with the R-Pi via keyboard/mouse/HDMI etc.

http://shoryuken.com/forum/ind.....ts.109678/

Here're the photos of the finished case:

Still up and running and providing me lots of arcade quality Streetfighter/BlazBlue and MAME joy!

If the credit card size dimensions hold out it could make a perfect altoid tin computer.

Along these lines.
