digital photo frame to use with raspberry pi

Fri Jan 25, 2013 6:36 am

Hi. I am a new raspberry pi owner and i am trying to find a nice small display for it.
I found a digital picture frame that has a video out port but no video in.(coby dp-562)
Is there any adapters or other hacking method to convert the video out port to work with video in cable?

Please let me know.
Thanks

For this particular model, since it has USB capability, you could connect the Raspberry Pi via USB and run a script to update the images on the SD card once a day. The Pi could have wifi usb so that it is portable and can connect to a server to update images. The only issues you would have are - driver support for the picture frame and portability of the picture frame. But that's for you to figure out :)

Also, unless the picture frame has the capability to show video, most picture frames don't have the refresh rate necessary to act as a monitor hacked or not.

Would a small LCD monitor be too big - I used some old 18" LCD monitors as photo frames as described here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 64&t=30893

I am working on a display i took from an old polaroid pic frame.I still need to figure out the correct inverter for the backlite power.

The only thing i am concerned with is the refresh,i'm not sure what this one has so my efforts may be a bust!

Looks like similar connectors. How would you even connect the ribbon to the pie? Did I mention n00b. I'm not too fussed about refresh as I may just use it for displaying periodic data. Whats the best way to go about learning what kind of connector it is and then how to convert/invert it.

Perhaps I should read more on basic electronics?

Hi
I was wondering how would it be possible to connect the pi to the digital photo frame via USB. Would I need to use the gpio ports?
