Yeap,  I agree with SiR, elegant solution for accessing the expansion header.

My thought for a case was to have a basic two piece design for the RPi board on its own and have a third plastic element to hold the expansion board, this clips into the bottom half of the RPi case. The top half of the RPi case then clips onto the expansion board element.

In the last few weeks I received lots of requests about a solution that permits the Raspberry Pi computers to be stacked.

It looks nice. The only thing is that the IDC connector must be able to fit through the hole. Previously there was a slot, which you have now removed.

With the stacking, I presume you have small feet on the bottom which fits into holes on the top surface.

You are still maintaining the elegant look of the original one you designed20

I was going to go for a transparent case, but I think I'll wait a few more days and see how this one comes out - nice job!

Great stuff Marco... this now looks like a very smart case indeed, and your attention to detail is to be commended.

I will await details of its availability with interest!

I thought about it and I decided that the case for the Raspberry Pi computer is ready to be released at least as a Release Candidate.

I really, really like the look of this case, but that shapeways price is just WAY too expensive!
35 euros for to protect something that costs $35...

Don't forget the extra $4.95 for the transparent light guide piece.

Really, a very good design but 40 Euros? Presumably plus VAT and postage. I think I'll spend it on another Pi...

Sweet! Can't wait to see some real world pics of some Pi's in them.

Well, it wasn't a secret:

I'm sorry for that, but unless I find the way to make it by injection moulding, 3D printing is the only way to make it, and SLS is not a cheap technology, you know, even if Shapeways has good prices for that...

Hi,
how is it like? Can you confirm that the assembly is ok?
Thank you.

Cheers,

marco,

the case fits the pi great. it snaps in and holds it snug. the material is sturdy but with a nice flex. i opted for the lowest cost material and it does the job great. i think i will paint the exterior of the LED extenders within the case black to help with the small amount of light bleed with this white case:

other then that im enjoying the case and it makes putting the pie down wherever i am much less stressful. the vents on the bottom are great:

Yes, I know, but I'm sorry that I have no time to manage this job. I would like someone get the project and make it live as a real moulded case. ;)
