Cipher Machine Using Raspberry Pi

Sat Sep 14, 2019 4:56 pm

So what I want to do is to build a machine that takes user input, encrypts it through code, and prints it out on paper tape or something similar. Think Lorenz-style cipher but automated with a RPi to compute the encryption process. Any thoughts on where to start or what sort of parts to look for? My currents thoughts are to modify an old typewriter or something similar, or maybe a keyboard that I can hook up to a separate printer (I do want to keep a certain aesthetic overall though).

Sounds like a USB keyboard --> RPi --> USB Serial printer would be a good place to start

once you have that working then you could choose to hack around with the aesthetics & mechanics

Are you looking for real encryption or maybe something simple as ROT13 ?
