Samsung Display

Mon Mar 17, 2014 5:46 pm

Hi

I have a Samsung LTN154X3-L09 LCD screen from a Defunct Dell laptop. Also found a 30 page 'datasheet' for LTN154X3-L01.

So can I expect to be able to use it with my Pi?

The motherboard is showing as a dead short tripping out 3 different power supplies, with most things removed, even a CPU.

So could the display be refitted and a Pi secreted within the laptop body?

TIA.

Possibly, if you can find an HDMI interface that will drive it.
Something like this - http://www.ebay.com/bhp/lcd-controller-board-hdmi
The interface must be programmed specifically for your TFT.

You can't drive large bare TFTs from the Pi.

Hi

Thanks for that.

I have looked around and there is quite a long PCB directly attached to the back of the panel, Fabrique en Chine.

The ribbon cable cable coming from it seems to correspond with

19 Vss Ground
18 ClkIN+ LVDS Differential Clock INPUT Positive
17 ClkIN- LVDS Differential Clock INPUT Negative
16 Vss Ground
15 RxIN2+ LVDS Differential Data INPUT (B2-B5,Sync,DE) Positive
14 RxIN2- LVDS Differential Data INPUT (B2-B5,Sync,DE) Negative
13 GND Ground
12 RxIN1+ LVDS Differential Data INPUT (G1-G5,B0-B1) Positive
11 RxIN1- LVDS Differential Data INPUT (G1-G5,B0-B1) Negative
10 GND Ground
9 RxIN0+ LVDS Differential Data INPUT (R0-R5,G0) Positive
8 RxIN0- LVDS Differential Data INPUT (R0-R5,G0) Negative
7 DATAEDID DDC data
6 CLKEDID DDC Clock
5 BIST Panel BIST enable
4 VEEDID DDC 3.3V Power
3 VDD POWER SUPPLY +3.3V
2 VDD POWER SUPPLY +3.3V
1 VSS Ground

in that it is 30 pin and the list is 30 pins long, 10 are N/C.

So I had a faint hope, but I will put it on the back burner for now.

I have exactly the same display and I was wondering how you did it (Soldering cables to it or just the controller)?
I don't think anyone said that they did anything..... and its been over 2 years....
As mentioned you need an LCD to HDMI interface board. The ribbon cable on the screen will connect to the board... no soldering.
Get the model number of the screen and search ebay for a board and/or ask the sellers if they have a board that will work with your screen. If no board is available then you will not be able to use the screen on your RPi.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated Raspbian Buster w/ Desktop OS.
