Hifiberry DAC+ via P5

Tue Oct 15, 2019 11:59 pm

Hi,

i bought a hifiberry DAC+ zero, designed for a 40 PIN headout, but have an 'old' model A(2011.12), with P5 header.

according to hifiberry website, GPIO PINS 18, 19, 20, 21 (beside 3.3V, 5V, GND) are needed on a pi zero (or any other 40 PIN model).
my question: can i just use the corresponding 26PIN + P5 pins, or has the functionality changed of the GPIOs between Model A(26PIN + P5) and the 40 PIN versions?

thx

IIRC there was a [26-pin + P5 pin] to 40pin conversion board before.... but its probably out of circulation nowadays.

You may need to make your own interface board between the HiFiberry DAC+ Zero and the RPi

or get a cheap hifiberry DAC+ clone designed for the 26pin + P5

or get a new RPiZWH to match the Hifiberry DAC+ Zero

whatever is cheaper and less troublesome...I leave that to your decision....

It depends ...
On the 40-pin header boards, GPIOs 18 - 21 need to be set to ALT0 to access the pcm audio interface.
To use P5, GPIOs 28 - 31 need to be set to ALT2

If you have access to the relevant software such that you can set that, then fine.
