Change cover of mp3 files

Sun Sep 16, 2018 2:15 pm

Hello there.

On Windows, to change my mp3 file s cover/artist name/etc, I was used to go on Windows Media Player to do this. On Raspbian tho, I couldn't found any alternatives, besides the slow "tagmp3.net" that sometimes doesnt want to upload some files (The website is really slow overall).

Any alternatives? I wouldn't mind a command line based solution, but a GUI would be appreciated.
Cheers.

I have never needed to do this, but using an internet search tool with the string "linux mp3 tag editor" returns a number of potentially useful hits, including this one that looks like an annotated list: https://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/MP3-HOWTO-13.html

What I can come up is the following:

for command line based you can try to use eyeD3

Code: Select all

eyeD3 --add-image="cover.jpg":FRONT_COVER "file.mp3"
and for GUI you can take a look at Kid3 - Audio Tagger. I believe you can edit the image with it, but I'm not sure.

Hi WillBoxOwO,

I've used EasyTag on desktop Debian and it appears to run OK on a Pi3 (run remotely - X forwarding)

sudo apt install easytag libcanberra-gtk3-module

(the libcanberra-gtk3-module to remove nusiance warnings if started from command line/remotely)

Hope this helps,
Dave

Hi,

I've not tried it but musicbrainz picard would be my choice, it looks as if it should run...
