That looks great. Like a cross between Darth Vader and Mini Me!

A truly fun looking thing.

(The name reminds me of PaPeRo, an NEC personal robot prototype from years ago.)

Whilst this is a great project, but £200 ????

Way too expensive when you see that all you get is a 12'ish inch high plastic shell, a circuit board,
some cabling and servos .... IMHO

I am not into robotics at all, but how much would the price of servo's of the sizes in rapiro be ???

I am also prepared to stand corrected, but can someone justify this price ??? Or agree or disagree
with me ???

I would have loved to get one of these, but I feel the price is prohibitive for the majority of pi owners
and its target audience ???

Is this guy just trying to make a big profit ??

I assure you, a dozen-odd servos is going to be pretty expensive. Try buying some... guess a fiver each unless you want cheap non-functional crap (as I have discovered.)

Also the setup costs to manufacture the shell by proper industrial moulding will be pretty high. Note their comment about the metal mould. Something like that will be nothing to somebody making millions of items, but for a small niche like this it'll be a substantial risk.

If you want to make a cheaper one, you could try getting six or eight servos and doing what Mike did (I'm tempted):
