That might be too general a question. I'm not familiar with the gertboard but I guess it could drive lots of different hobby type motors. Do you have a particular use in mind? Is the battery to drive the motor?

Yeah the battery would be to drive the motor. Not sure it doesn't have to be massive just something maybe big enough to power a fan?

Gert implied in another thread that driving a motor with < 9V power into the motor controller is unlikely to work.

The Anker battery I use has two 5V USB outputs and one 9/12V output: http://www.ianker.com/anker-astro-exter ... 2-B16P100A

I found this thread while trying to figure out why I couldn't get the motor controller to work on the gertboard. Thanks poglad for suggesting that there is a minimum supply voltage, I think this is my problem. I am using a mini 5V motor for testing, but looking at the datasheet for the motor controller (http://users.ece.utexas.edu/~valvano/Da ... /L6203.pdf) the minimum supply voltage is 12V. I need to get a bigger motor!

Thought I would put this up here in case anyone else has the same problem...

Hi, the same as been remarked in the Gertboard thread.
I have found, just like others, that the controller seems to function down to 9V.
