I am interested in setting up several water leak sensors and wanted to know if anyone has found a reliable sensor for this? I have seen many soil sensors for the Pi, but I don't think they will meet the specific need.
The project would be to build multiple sensors that are linked via a WiFi Network. If that is multiple Raspberry Pi, then that might be a way, but I was looking for a more basic IOT sensor that can connect to WiFi and the Raspberry Pi would be used to manage the output from these sensors and ultimately be able to turn off the water supply to the house if there was a leak detected. There are a few systems out there that can do this but are very pricey. When you break it down, you need a valve that you can control with a Raspberry Pi, and several sensors that you might put around one's house to detect water. Worst case is you shut off the water when there isn't a leak.
Here are a couple WiFi sensor for water leaks that can send messages to a phone. They might be basically what is required, just that the message would need to go to the Raspberry Pi as well.
