Detecting a Voltage and Moving an Electric Valve

Concept:
To run an electric humidifier off a small 50cc engine. As vapor is created, it is mixed into the air, helping give the engine more power.

How it Can be Done:
The Raspberry Pi, or an attached device should be able to log the voltage taken from the motor as it runs, to determine how fast the engine is running. Sensing how much voltage there is determines how ruch water vapor mixture to add to the air, by opening an electric valve to allow the mixture into the engine.

Simplified:
Voltage determines how much an electric valve valve is opened by.

I am fairly new to programming, and can perform a little bit of C programming. Any help/advice is appreciated.

You can do this small project using an Arduino. If you want Rpi also just for logging and display the info on a web page just send the info from arduino to Rpi using Serial library over the USB.
