Attendance Counter?

Thu Apr 23, 2015 5:05 pm

Looking ways to build an attendance count that mark people/members walking through the door.

Something like a finishing line. Mark the Date /Time + database.

How and what should i need to start?

Not a Pi solution, but something I've seen used

Could possible be linked to a Pi to log in a database?

What programming languages do you know? I'd use python for this task.

This should be a very simple task.

1. Wait for button to be pressed
2. Check current time
3. Write to database or just a simple text file.

Your next steps are to select a programming language, figure out how to read in when a button is pressed and then come back with some questions about how to log the data.
You also need to decide what type of button you want the user to press and what you'd like to do with the data once it has been captured

Hi

You could consider a pair of photo-electric beams, either side of the door frame.

If only one person was allowed through, IE: Narrow opening, then breaking beam A then B within 1 second would increment 1. Simulate with buttons as suggested to get the software part right.
