There's no need for apache or nginx servers to be pre-installed.

The easiest way to install is as follows:

Code: Select all

cd /var/tmp
wget https://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin_1.870_all.deb
Verify the checksum - should return 1

Code: Select all

md5sum webmin_1.870_all.deb | grep "9a74a96a12df55ba214768cdd2c777a7"
Install the package, and ignore the errors related to missing dependencies

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg --install webmin_1.870_all.deb
Now we fix dependencies

Code: Select all

sudo apt --fix-broken install

This worked fine for me (taken from the webmin site):

1)
sudo su
edit the /etc/apt/sources.list file on your system and add the lines :
deb http://download.webmin.com/download/repository sarge contrib
deb http://webmin.mirror.somersettechsoluti ... repository sarge contrib

2) You should also fetch and install my GPG key with which the repository is signed, with the commands :
cd /root
wget http://www.webmin.com/jcameron-key.asc
apt-key add jcameron-key.asc

3)
apt-get update
apt-get install webmin

All dependencies should be resolved automatically.

Andrea.
What's with Sarge! Sarge is from 2005 and the package probably is outdated!
