Connecting to OpenVPN

Mon Jul 01, 2019 8:29 pm

Hi all

Not sure if this is the right place. I have a Netgear router running a VPN using OpenVPN. This all works fine on my mobile as they provide a file that you import for Windows, Mac and Android. I've built an OpenAuto carputer which runs on Raspian and would like to be able to connect to the router from that. I can find tons about setting up a Pi as a VPN server but nothing about connecting to the VPN using the Pi as a client.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers
Andy

Try downloading the client file for Mac. If it looks like one or more text files, you’re probably good to go on Linux. Check file paths if there are some defined in the config file, make sure they match the absolute path to the corresponding files on the Pi.

Set “verb 3” in the config file and look at the system logs when starting the client.
You’ll see eventual problems with the config file.
