Pi as offline Wireless Access Point

Tue Dec 11, 2018 2:31 pm

Hi everybody,

I have an idea for a project (posted something similar, but different, here last week).

I would like to host various media files on my pi (video, text etc) and then set Pi up as wireless access point.

When somebody logs onto the WAP from their devices they are able to automatically access the media content on the pi using wifi but without having Pi connected to internet?

Apologies if this blindingly obvious!

I am also interested in this.

I have a project with a similar need.
Access wifi on pi with no internet. But access a captive portal to a specific web page hosted on the pi.
I can do it!......What is it you want me to do?

Have a look at this and the original it was forked from http://librarybox.us

Works fine for media etc but can be a bit lacking in web page handling.
Need Pi spray - these things are breeding in my house...

Thanks Andyroo,

I've actually just been checking out Pirate Box (https://piratebox.cc/) which LibraryBox comes from....I've set up piratebox on my pi3 and am now going to 'play' around with it to see if I can some kind of variation and hopefully learn a bit a long the way!
