Squid Proxy

Wed Nov 02, 2016 3:48 pm

Hi Everyone,

I have an accessible Raspberry Pi overseas that I want to use as a squid proxy server.

I am wondering if there is a danger in opening up that WANs proxy port on the router?

Also does anyone have any good recommendations for squid setup articles online.

Thank you,

you just need to ensure you set the IP's or IP range up correctly that are authorised to use it using the ACL's.

aslong as you limit the ip's that can use it then there should be no abuse.

Alternatively you could setup a VPN rather than opening up the ports for Squid.

Thanks for this. Squid Is now installed. Working fine with local IPs. Have to work out external IPs now.
