Does it support upscaling to 1080p?

Tue May 20, 2014 2:02 pm

I read somewhere that the Pi would not be a real substitute for a media center, because it does not support upscaling of SD material to 1080p (I am not sure whether my Samsung LE40A659 does support upscaling). Is that correct?

It does upscale. I certainly play SD DVD's rips and they appears full screen on a HD TV.

Raspberry Pi has excellent hardware video scaling. Everything is upscaled to whatever the current video mode is.
