Squeezeplug 5 usb soundcard

Sat Dec 29, 2012 9:18 am

Hi,

I cannot get my usb soundcard to work.

details from aplay -l show:

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Device [Generic USB Audio Device], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA], device 0: bcm2835 ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA]

and from cat /proc/asound/cards

0 [Device ]: USB-Audio - Generic USB Audio Device
Generic USB Audio Device at usb-bcm2708_usb-1.2, full speed
1 [ALSA ]: BRCM bcm2835 ALSbcm2835 ALSA - bcm2835 ALSA
bcm2835 ALSA
what do I need to do to make it work?

Dave

One option is to be patient. :)
truehl (Squeezeplug's author) says he has added support for many USB soundcards into the next release.

This is what aplay -l shows on my system

Code: Select all

root@SqueezeLite:~# aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: DAC [USB Audio DAC], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA], device 0: bcm2835 ALSA [bcm2835 ALSA]
  Subdevices: 8/8
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
  Subdevice #1: subdevice #1
  Subdevice #2: subdevice #2
  Subdevice #3: subdevice #3
  Subdevice #4: subdevice #4
  Subdevice #5: subdevice #5
  Subdevice #6: subdevice #6
  Subdevice #7: subdevice #7
root@SqueezeLite:~#
Try backing up /etc/asound.conf and replacing everything in it with this, then reboot:

pcm.!default {
type plug
slave.pcm "hw:0,0"
}

ctl.dmixer {
type hw
card 0
}
