Raspberry PI 2 Media Center

Tue Mar 17, 2015 3:51 pm

I've been reading various posts on car media server projects that users have completed. There is still one question of functionality that no one has touched on and I need to know if it’s possible.

My children are too young right now to know how to select media content via a tablet. If I have two tablet devices (one for each child), is there any way that I can push media content to each one of their devices via another device like another tablet? I guess what I'm asking for is a 'remote control' to control what plays on each device independently.

Thanks

Hopefully someone with some more specific knowledge than me can fact check this, but in theory you could have both tablets open a video stream and then use VLC on the Pi to load specific videos into that stream.
Dear forum: Play nice ;-)

Does anyone have a answer/solution other than VPN to each of the tablets?

using my phone as a KODI remote (running yatse) i can tell kodi to play different audio tracks to 2 android devices running BubbleUpnp but I have not tried it with Video but in principle it should work. Im pretty sure that bubbleUpnp can be used to direct content from a server to dlna enabled devices but have not tried that.

Sounds like it has potential... I will do some research in that direction.

Thank you very much for your input!!!

I contacted the 'company' that created yatse asking them if it has the functionality I'm looking for.
The answer was "well no" as if I'm supposed to know this or something. Love people that sound like tools.

So, I'm hoping someone else has a suggestion.

Thanks
