@ trx

which OS do you have on your computer?

there is a better thread over here

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthrea ... %29/page36

there is also a German language thread for the same product.

If you have a windows computer, shut down the pi in the proper manner.(one can use Putty, but this is an easy way).

Take the SD in a reader, open it in My Computer. Windows will only recognise the fat partition.
You look for a file called boot config text and open it.
Add the text to the end of the file, save and exit.
Remove (correctly) the SD card, put it back in the pi and start up.
Your usb drive should be recognised.

For Spotify, you need to install the Triode Spotify plug in and configure it correctly.
do not use a face-book log in and password, you need to use a device password.

Sorry that I'm in a rush today and can not do any screen shots.

Thanks Ronnie! For now, I'm going to head in a different direction; going to go with a setup with LMS installed on a PC and the Raspberry Pi serving only as a player. Hitting a few snags with that too, but I think it's the way to go for me.

This seems quite promissing...

I was planning to dualboot XBMC for online media and Volumio for music quality...
This seems to have both feature in one App/OS.

How music player sound quality of this compared with Volumio?

Has anyone installed a MQTT Broker on a RPi running Max2Play/SqueezePlug?
Any issues?
Thanks

Finally I got around to changing my older squeezeplug r-pi machine over to the new Max2Play/Squeezeplug.
I have it working using the headphone jack on the r-pi but I want to use my USB DAC.
It's not appearing in the list of soundcards on the advanced options page.

How do I get set the output of the audioplayer to be my usb dac?

EDIT: Also how do you get SSH access?: I have worked this out. There is an earlier post that mentions logging in as root for SSH access and this has worked. END EDIT

Thanks,

Mark

Further info on my USB DAC problem:

lsusb shows my DAC, its called "Texas Instruments Japan PCM2902 Audio Codec":

Code: Select all

root@max2play:~# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9512 Standard Microsystems Corp.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp.
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 08bb:2902 Texas Instruments Japan PCM2902 Audio Codec
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 7392:7811 Edimax Technology Co., Ltd EW-7811Un 802.11n Wireless Adapter [Realtek RTL8188CUS]
But squeezelite -l doesn't show it:

Code: Select all

#### SQUEEZELITE -l ####
Output devices:
null - Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture)
  plugequalUSB - Equalizer for USB
  dmixerUSB - DMixer for USB
  plugequal - Equalizer for plughw:0,0
  default:CARD=ALSA - bcm2835 ALSA, bcm2835 ALSA - Default Audio Device
  sysdefault:CARD=ALSA - bcm2835 ALSA, bcm2835 ALSA - Default Audio Device

This USB DAC used to work when squeezeplug was standalone so I am tempted to go back to that

Either,

reboot

enable the usb power outlet to max,

use a power usb hub,

subscribe to raspberry settings (buy the licence) and select usb outlet in the drop down, reboot and select squeezelite Advanced Settings .

Ask over on the Squeezebox Community forum

Ask on the Max2play forum

good luck

Ronnie, I had posted in the slimdevices max2play forum and I think you answered there also.
I tried the config.txt change you suggested max_usb_current = 1 and it didn't make any difference.
I am going to reinstall the old squeezeplug software as it was working fine until I upgraded to the max2play version.
Thanks

before you revert to the old OS, what about trying the upgrade/update routine on the pi, there might be a difference in the kernel used.

Just a thought.

Ronnie: Do you mean try "apt-get update" then "apt-get upgrade" ??

That will be it, there is a third one to clean up the unused bits but I can't remember it :P

I suggested this because I had a similar problem, here is s copy of my question to Stefan and his reply.

Undeterred, I burned a new card and followed your original instructions, but alas they also fail.
Hi Ronnie,

this is because you probably have another kernel version than the module i created. You can check for your kernel with "uname -a". The soundcard module needs kernel 3.18.11 to work. You might have something like 3.18.7. All you need to do is running "apt-get update; apt-get upgrade". And Restart... After this you should have the latest Kernel installed and the module will work. Thanks for your report on this!

Cheers,
Stefan

Nice one Ronnie. It worked.

"apt-get update" then "apt-get upgrade" then a hard reboot (pulling the power plug from the pi) fixed it. My usb-dac is now listed and selectable in the squeezelite setup.

Thanks.

When I boot my pi with the ethernet cable attached, max2play boots as you would expect and I can connect to it though the wifi.

However if I do not have the ethernet cable connected the boot gets as far as.
Reloading /etc/samba/smb.conf: smbd only.
bound to 192.168.0.31 -- renewal in 36167 seconds

then it hangs.
192.168.0.31 is the ip address assigned to the wifi adapter.
The light flashes on the wifi adapter and if I look at the router GUI, |I can see that the wifi has attached itself to the router.

if I then connect ehternet and reboot - it works fine.

Any idea what is going wrong and how I can get it to boot without ethernet cable attached?

All worked OK until I upgraded to max2play.

Have you uprated the usb power on the pi?.

SSH into the pi, at the command line type,

echo max_usb_current=1 >> /boot/config.txt

press enter, reboot the pi and your done.

you need a good power supply, at least 2.5amps at 5volt (some good ones are a little over the 5volt)

Does SqueezePlug 2.12 work on the Pi 3B?
Where can I find the MD5 hash for this image?
As a newbie I followed the "Getting started" on the MAX2PLAY website, but until now without success.
Just the rainbow on the monitor, no led activity. A card with NOOBS booted fine.

Thanks, Hans
