using the SCT-013 with the pi via the MCP3008

Sat Feb 15, 2014 7:19 pm

I have an MCP3008 A/D Converter and the SCT-013-030 Amperage sensor. I want to use this with the raspberry pi directly and i am having issues getting the electronics right.
I have this example for the arduino:
http://openenergymonitor.org/emon/node/156
but I don't know enough to translate this to how i would read this sensor using the RPi.

I was wondering if you were able to find a way to get this to work.

I am also wanting to interface SCT-013 so I can display an alert at our exit if someone has left the electric range on.

Hi guys,
Did you do something? I'm also looking for it! If you catch something please share here.

friends have a problem.

I have a project in which I have a sct-013 sensor and a pi raspberry need to see him on a website within the raspberry, which is the problem the sensor is analog and the rasp is digital as I connect the sensor with the raspberry?

Thank you

I use MCP3008 to read Analog data by using Raspberry Pi. I guess you asked this. I couldn't finish my project yet. Still looking for help.

I have written a detailed post connecting an SPI A2D convertor (MCP3002) to the RPi, that should give you enough hints to convert to the MCP3008 (which really is overkill for this application).
See if this helps to get you on your way: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=123962

Enjoy!

Did anyone get this working.
Have a few spare channels on my MCP3008 free and also have a couple of SCT Current transformers and would like to get them working.

Found https://pypi.python.org/pypi/enerpi

There is a fair amount on https://community.openenergymonitor.org ... ?q=mcp3008
My SCTs work fine with Arduino and C++ but I would like to do it in python and MCPs as I already have an Arduino and Pyserial connected to my Pi
