Hi

I'd really like to be able to control a bluetooth smart home device with a raspberry pi, but I have no idea where to start.

it comes with an android app that communicates with the device, but does anyone have any idea how to capture the required conversations and replay them with a raspberry pi?

cheers
Bob

Raspbian Buster with Desktop Operating System has built in Bluetooth support for the Raspberry Pi SBCs which have Bluetooth.

Di you have a Raspberry Pi with Bluetooth ??

Bluetooth sniffing cannot be done with a typical Bluetooth adapter. Adafruit has a nifty BLE sniffer device that can probably be connected to the Pi, but is easier to use on a PC or laptop. It has a modified firmware that can catch over the air communications between two other BLE devices. Very handy for debugging or reverse-engineering. Here: https://www.adafruit.com/product/2269.

Thanks. That's enough to get me started. Just waiting for the hardware to arrive now...
