Unsupervised Machine Learning for Presence Detection

Sun Dec 30, 2018 4:24 pm

Dear all,

Did anyone already try to use an unsupervised machine learning algorithm to identify the presence of a person using e.g. an raspberry pi captured image plus wlan presence of the smartphone associated to that person?

Regards,

Stefan

I have used WiFi probe requests as part of a security system. It would be pretty simple to take photographs when a probe request is detected. Using a white list of known devices means that it won't false trigger.

I also have a presence board where known devices are connected to the host WiFi AP. A text file is kept of those people in the house. A PIR sensor cross references to the list, if no family are in, video is recorded and an email is sent to me.

Thanks, but that’s not what I’m looking for.
I’m more keen about messing a little bit with machine learning. It’s more the way of unsupervised learning instead of a simple solution that triggers my interest right now.

look into bluetooth ble and beacons for better proximity data than you can get from a wifi connection..
