I have the usual collection of Raspberry Pi devices here. And a device
that the company still known as LinkSys configured to work as both a
three place router and a phone services device, in this case Vonage.
My original plan was to have the selected Raspberry Pi device pick up
an IP address from my regular setup. Then the middleware would send
the attached widget an IP address via in this case a USB attached
Ethernet adapter. I say original because it would also be doing this,
talking to an Arduino wearing a very custom shield who manages an
alarm system's keyboard. The phone box is of course connected to the
alarm panel via the appropriate widget.
For all of that please examine this page;

Oddly enough his blog was allowing comments once and I asked about his
choice of optioisolators. Occupants of his junkbox.
Originally I had a different idea as applied to rest of it, but I
still want to see if the Raspberry Pi end can be made to work.
