Pi dead as a doornail

Was in the wrong forum, deleted my old thread and moved here..
Just got my very own Pi, and I had everything all ready to rock and roll, but I seem to have come to a bit of a stumbling block, firstly, my Pi seems very different from all the ones on the sites, so I just had to really guess where all the ports were.
So, I hooked it all up anyway, and I even got a green LED on, but apart from that, nothing seems to be happening, all that's happening is I'm getting hungrier and hungrier.
Have I just plugged in something the wrong way round or is this a bigger issue?
I've embedded a photo of my setup to make sure it's all plugged in ok. I've also tried a different imaged SD card and I know the 1A psu is fine...
Any help is appreciated.

I think I can see the problem. You appear to have inserted your SD card the wrong way round.

This appears to be an Apple product and we are therefore unable to offer any support.

You don't appear to of plugged it in to a power supply - no wonder nothing is happening.

And to quote a movie "We'll just tell your mother that... we ate it all."

No, but when I plugged the USB PSU in, there was a sizzling sound and a bang, then the trip switch went...shoddy engineering of a £1 PSU >.>

I would get on to the supplier and do your crust, they will then get their just desserts.

Maybe you should ask the manufacturer what temperature the reflow oven was set for.

Try cutting it into slices and checking for segmentation errors.
