any driver for version 4.1.4-v7+ #808 SMP ?
Many thanks
Yes

Code: Select all

wget https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/80256631/mt7601-4.1.4-v7-808.tar.gz
tar xzf mt7601-4.1.4-v7-808.tar.gz
./install.sh
Check uname -a on your Pi against the download filename, then if you update you can make the driver filename for an updated driver whenever required.

Maybe you didn't notice that, at least starting from version 4.1.5, there is an OFFICIAL and supported driver for Mediatek 7601, which works beautifully (except for Access Point capabilities, which have not been developed yet - I hope in the near future they could be...).
Best regards and special thanks to Mr. Engman who has allowed us all to use this class of dongles till now.

Can you give some details on this? How is it installed, and, how do I remove mr engman's version (nothing against mr engman's ver, but of course when the kernel changes it breaks..). And if I do change over will it then always be in lock step? It should be, right? No more dropouts when kernel is upgraded?

thx

To get the new mt7601 driver working you need to download the firmware file it needs. You can download the file using the command

Code: Select all

sudo wget https://github.com/porjo/mt7601/raw/master/src/mcu/bin/MT7601.bin -O /lib/firmware/mt7601u.bin
You shouldn't need to uninstall my driver. After installing the firmware reboot the Pi to get the driver working.

Hi,

Will work the version of driver for 4.1.4v7+ #808 in the 4.1.4v7-aufs #1 kernel?
Maybe editing folder names in install.sh...

Hello istvan54, You used the Ralink MT7601 in versions after 4.1.5?

I'm trying to utilizes it with the 4.1.7 version and RPI B+, but when I plug the dongle in USB, my raspberry is freezing and the mouse and keyboard stops working. I believe it is freezing all USB ports...
That happens with or without the installation of the dongle drivers.

Note: The dongle is operating normally for the version of 3:18:11 Raspbian in RPI B +;

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Well, Thanks a lot MrEngman. I had difficulty with setting up the wifi Ralink dongle drivers on my RPi2. After reading a lot of your replies, I figured out what file I needed to download. Since my kernal version is 4.1.8-v7 #818 I tried and downloaded the corresponding file from the dropbox account and just did ./install.sh then reboot and it worked. Thanks again.

Well, nevermind. I was typing the url incorrectly. I was just able to download it and now it's working perfectly.
Thanks.

Thanks guys.

OK, will correct that typo, but bear in mind it was breaking before I changed that setting regardless, will let you know.

Hi, i have OSMC Build 2016.01-1 running (4.4.0-1) and a TP-Link T2UH wifi usb adapter. lsusb shows the following adapter:

Code: Select all

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 148f:761a Ralink Technology, Corp.
I copied the file you mentioned to /lib/firmware and renamed it mt7601u.bin. Rebooted but the stick isn't working.
dmesg shows:

Code: Select all

[ 3.097008] usb 1-1.2: new high-speed USB device number 4 using dwc_otg

[ 3.426421] NET: Registered protocol family 10
If I do a "modprobe mt7601u" I get the following message in dmesg:

Code: Select all

[ 251.961843] usbcore: registered new interface driver mt7601u
lsmod shows:

Code: Select all

Any hints on how I get the Wifi-Adapter working?

Hi, i have an edup EP-AC1605, that needs rt2870 driver.because of the mt7612u chip inside.

I am trying to install the latest drivers from mediatek, but that are non working.

the problem is:

Code: Select all

I tried to patch manually rc_linux.c adjusting current_fsgid() in current_fsgid().val AND current_fsuid().val in current_fsuid().val

Since that the error is now:

Code: Select all

Has anyone managed to get this to work in AP mode? I've tried to use the https://github.com/eywalink/mt7601u library, but unfortunately despite figuring out how to compile it, loading the modules, and trying to use hostapd, I'm still unable to get it running. Here is my dmesg output after a night of hacking:
