Looking for new SD Card holder for my PI

Wed Jul 03, 2013 9:39 pm

Hello,
Does anyone know if we can purchase spare parts for our Pi's?
I'm looking for the SD card holder / receptacle.
Of if anyone knows the part # and who may sell them?
A heavy handed friend of mine tried to push the card out rather than pull it out and broke off the plastic edges (crazy glue didn't hold).
Thanks,
Robin

you are not the first, mine has a shim of plastic super-glued over it after I dropped it and it landed SD card down.

see here for some options,

I would recommend going for a metal one if you can. Just be extra careful when removing the old one (I tried doing it whole and lifted a pad so had to scrape back the track on the PCB to re-make the contact), as recommended try to cut the plastic away, desolder and lift the pins one at a time.

The thread I used has more info here:

I've also used a micro-SD card adapter glued in place, which worked for several months.

Good luck!
