[Raspberry + NTFS] Transmission Error: Unable to save resume file: Permission denied

Fri Nov 22, 2019 8:30 am

Hello
I get the error "Unable to save resume file: Permission denied" I tried to follow many tutorials but I had no luck fixing this issue.

I'm using:
  • Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+
  • Rasbian (Debian) latest version
  • Autmounting with /etc/fstab
Here are my config files: Some notes:
My Partition automounts fine.
I can create files & folders on my disk but I cannot download anything transmission

What should I do?

So this is a Transmission error?
If that's the case then please modify the title of this topic to reflect this.

I would say that Transmission does not have the correct rights to access the drive. That's not a Raspbian or NTFS problem.

Title changed.
I'm just asking for help since I'm configuring Transmission on Raspbian with a NTFS disk.
Maybe someone knows how to help.

Thanks

ewww NTFS

It might work better using FAT32. You could also check and make sure the drive's permissions in /media is only owner/group=(your username)
Raspberry Pi 4B running Raspbian Buster v3.1 (via PINN)
Kingston 32 GB C10 (U1) microSD
Sceptre E225W 22" 75hz 1080p monitor
Flash drive for backups and swap
-or-
pi-top 3 running Raspbian with drivers and pi-topHUB 2.0 / 16GB SanDisk C10 microSD

It's bound to be because NTFS doesn't support the Linux ownership and permission bits file security.

Transmission runs with uid/gid of transmission-daemon (not root) and you won't have mounted your NTFS drive with those uid/gid values. Most likely it will have been automounted with pi as the uid/gid values.

Take a look with a mount command.
