New Raspberry Pi 3 B not working w/ new 7" LCD

Fri Oct 25, 2019 5:41 pm

I just got a new Raspberry Pi 3 B and a "For Raspberry Pi IPS 7 Inch HDMI LCD Display Monitor 1024X600 Touch Screen".

I haven't tested the Raspberry with any LCD. I'd rather avoid having to buy another LCD to ensure the Raspberry.

I put the 2019-09-26-raspbian-buster-full image via rufus 3.8p onto a 32GB SD card. With the touch screen connected to the Raspberry Pi I powered it and nothing but grey lines filled the LCD (see attached photo of the LCD).

I'm new to the Raspberry. I don't know where to go from here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I suggest you try using Etcher to flash the Raspbian image to sd card.

I'll try that.

Thank you!

I downloaded and installed that etcher and used it to put the image on my SD card. After powering the Raspberry with the SD card in the LCD still fills with grey lines then the screen goes black for a few seconds then the grey lines fill the screen again. Then it just sits there.

So, it is still not working. Could it be the image I downloaded?

A quick easy test to rule out some possibilities would be to connect the RPi to a TV via the same HDMI cable and see if that works.
If it does not ... try a different cable.
