PI4 Sound from multiple sources?

Thu Jul 25, 2019 12:31 am

So the problem I'm having is that if I have a video playing with audio, the audio works. But, if I try to, say, play a game with audio at the same time, the games audio will not work unless I close the video. Is there a way to allow audio from multiple sources simultaneously? I'm using Raspbian Buster.

Is Pulseaudio installed? Are the programs you are using set to make use of Pulseaudio?

Personally I live with this limitation on all my Linux systems for simplicity sake.

I don't guess it is because I'm using the mostly stock Raspbian Buster install. The limitation isn't a huge deal, but it would be nice to be able to have Twitch running in the background while I'm fiddling around with another program that uses audio like Pico 8. So, if there is a way to do it, I'd like to give it a go.

Just for completion, and to help any one else in my situation, pulse audio did the trick.

I simply did:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install pulseaudio
reboot
Now I get audio from multiple sources, as desired. I appreciate your input, have a great weekend.
