Post Buster Update Seems Broke

Mon Jul 15, 2019 8:59 pm

Hello everyone.

Previously I sought help from the forums regarding why update and upgrade wasn't working. I was provided a link on how to upgrade from Stretch to Buster, and everything went along smoothly.

I left it over the weekend and when I attempted to issue a sudo apt-get update, this is the output that I received:

Code: Select all

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo apt-get update
Hit:1 http://raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian buster InRelease
Hit:2 http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian buster InRelease

W: Skipping acquire of configured file 'staging/i18n/Translation-en_US' as repository 'http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian buster InRelease' doesn't have the component 'staging' (component misspelt in sources.list?)

Not sure what to do with that exactly, I proceeded to issue sudo apt-get upgrade:

Code: Select all

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo apt-get upgrade

I've attempted to reinstall 'triggerhappy', while the install seemed successful, re-issuing the upgrade command results the same.

I attempted to reinstall the OS again from the page that I was referred to earlier, but still no dice.

How bad is it, really docs?

What did you run? It looks like this is a PC running Raspberry Pi Desktop but you've configured it to point at http://raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian which is only for ARM. Raspberry Pi Desktop uses the regular Debian repo.

If this is actually a RPi board then you've set it to look for x86 packages.

In either case, something is misconfigured hence all the errors. The instructions you used to upgrade are suspect. It isn't recommended to do major version upgrades.

Are you using a Raspberry Pi with Raspbian or a PC with Debian and Raspberry Pi Desktop?
