Defective Pi Zero? No power

Thu Jun 13, 2019 2:00 am

Hello

I just received my Pi Zero W.
I loaded up a 64GB SD with Noobs. stuck it in
I first tried to power it up with my battery phone pack. No red LED. Nothing happens.
Then I tried plugging it in with a phone charger. Nothing either happens. No red LED

Does this mean it is defective?

Thank you for your help

Pi Zero W only has a green LED that indicates activity on the SD card.

Have you measured the 5V and 3.3V pins on the header, or holes if you didn't buy the version with headers installed?

Did you follow the instructions on formatting the SD card before use? Cards of 64GB and over use ExFAT format by default, which the Pi can't boot from. It needs to be formatted as FAT32 before putting NOOBS on it - or even better, use something like Etcher to write a Raspbian image instead of using NOOBS, that doesn't need formatting in advance as the image file is pre-formatted.

Did you reformat the 64GB card to FAT32?

Cards larger than 32 default to exFAT format, which is not compatible with NOOBS. My guess is your Pi Zero cannot read the boot files, and you either need to reformat the card with the correct filesystem (use fat32format) or write one of the Raspbian images to the card using Etcher.
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups...and where is that annoying music coming from?
