multiplexing ssh connections (controlpath)

Sat Sep 22, 2018 11:04 am

I'm trying to follow this procedure so I can run multiple ssh connections using the same TCP port to my pi
But it doesnt seem to work

I have added the config file to ~/.ssh/config
with the below

Host *
ControlMaster auto
ControlPath /tmp//master-%r@%h:%p
ControlPersist 600

I have restarted ssh and also rebooted
I'm using openvpn with an active tunnel is that makes any difference

when logging in using there's nothing created in /tmp
pi@192.168.1.20

subsequently using

check -O pi@192.168.1.20
No ControlPath specified for "-O" command

I had quick look at https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/OpenSSH/C ... ltiplexing

IMHO I think you are misunderstanding this feature:
I'm trying to follow this procedure so I can run multiple ssh connections using the same TCP port to my pi
If I understand correctly this feature allows multiple ssh sessions to a host using a single tcp connection, which means that it works for outgoing connections only. For incoming connections this is not needed.
The road to insanity is paved with static ip addresses
