If I run

Code: Select all

sudo lightdm --test-mode
I get a small black window and I can't do anything.

Please give more information about your setup...
Such as OS + version, model Pi, how did you install lightdm, etc

Are you sure you need to use sudo?

I found this post on the Internet and the first method worked for me:

It doesn't work most of the time for some reason. I had luck that it worked on my second try. If you know how to make it work every time please tell me.
You also have to give permissions to lightdm to edit the contents of var/lib/lightdm. I just logged into root and did it manually.

And there is also a problem that the mouse and keyboard don't work.

This is part of the Debug output when lightdm test mode doesn't work:

Code: Select all

.
.
.
[+0.13s] DEBUG: DisplayServer x-1: Waiting for ready signal from X server :1
[+0.13s] DEBUG: Acquired bus name org.freedesktop.DisplayManager
[+0.13s] DEBUG: Registering seat with bus path /org/freedesktop/DisplayManager/Seat0
[+0.58s] DEBUG: Process 6797 terminated with signal 11
[+0.58s] DEBUG: DisplayServer x-1: X server stopped
.
.
.

and this is when it works:

Code: Select all

.
.
.
[+0.14s] DEBUG: DisplayServer x-1: Waiting for ready signal from X server :1
[+0.14s] DEBUG: Acquired bus name org.freedesktop.DisplayManager
[+0.15s] DEBUG: Registering seat with bus path /org/freedesktop/DisplayManager/Seat0
[+0.66s] DEBUG: Got signal 10 from process 6827
[+0.66s] DEBUG: DisplayServer x-1: Got signal from X server :1
.
.
.

Ps: Command for debug mode:

Code: Select all

lightdm --test-mode -d
