File attachments

I just tried to attach a .txt. file to a reply and it was rejected. What is the best way to include text file data in a reply?.....RDK

Stick it on google docs or github.io or pastebin.com, stick a link on here.

File types and size are limited, so for a lot of file types it's the only way.
Exactly what is (not) allowed depends on board settings.

Zip the file and attach that. Zip files are allowed.

It's not the same, it's only about a 1,000,000 times better.

There's even a pastebin program you can install on Raspbian to automatically create them.

I won't unzip a zip file on here, because there's no antivirus scrutiny of attachments.

If it's not too large you could include it in-line wrapped in [ code ] ... [ /code ] tags which will preserve its spacing.

If it is too large it might be worth asking yourself if it needs to be that large, if you need to post the full file.

The level of support provided for attachments is usually a debated issue on every forum; attachments take up server space but forcing them to be hosted elsewhere means they are prone to disappearing and being lost over time.
