SD Card Copier - Could not create FAT

Tue Jul 10, 2018 1:51 am

i have a 16 GB SD card (with NOOBS on it) and am trying to put it all onto a 32 GB SD card. I have tried using the SD Card Copier in the accessories menu with no success. I have formatted the 32 GB card on my MAC as MSDOS-FAT. I then run SD Card Copier and put the 16 GB SD card I am booted from in the From Device and the 32 GB card in to To Device and then click on Start. But every time after about 10 seconds or so I get the message "Could not create FAT". What could I be doing wrong?

Hi Ned, have you tried using

https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

to format the card?

As I recall, (and I may be wrong) there's a limitation in the underlying librarise that linux uses to format and resize partitions that prevents resizing of FAT32. Try deleting all partitions on the 32GB card and letting the SD card copier partition and format it.

As a last resort, do a clean install of noobs onto the 32GB card then manually copy your changed/created files over.
This space unintentionally left blank.
