Stretch Lite IPTABLES problem

Folks,

Just installed the latest (27/06/2018) Stretch Lite to run a program connected to internet 24/7

Done the apt-get update/upgrade etc but when I try to check iptables for the default settings I get the following error;

Code: Select all

sudo iptables -L
iptables v1.6.0: can't initialize iptables table `filter': Table does not exist (do you need to insmod?)
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.
insmod obviously wants an input but no idea what arguments to enter.

I've used iptables before on Stretch so something has changed. Any advice appreciated.

Have you rebooted since doing the apt-get upgrade ?

The way raspbian works when it updates the kernel the old kernel and it's matching modules get removed. This means you cannot load any new modules. A reboot will mean you're now running the updated kernel and the kernel modules on the SD card will match - meaning you can now load new modules.

I thought I had but will recheck. Probably did reboot from raspi-config before doing the update.

Will let you know.

All OK now, thank you for suggestion. Thought I had rebooted but appeared not at that time.

First time I think I've had cause to check IPTABLES rules before a reboot.
