Using android phone to control raspberry pi 3 with wifi

Mon Mar 13, 2017 6:14 am

Hello everybody,

I just wanted to know whether a project I am trying to develop is possible with raspberry pi 3B or not.

So basically, I want to link my smart phone which has android on it to the raspberry pi3 using wifi. But I dont have an internet connection. Something like creating a mobile hotspot without any mobile data.

After doing this I want to use the phone to play some videos stored locally in the SD card of the raspberry pi and also be able to pause, rewind, forward, etc. the video.

So everybody, is this possible? If it is could you please forward me some links or any example project videos which may have dealt with such issues.

Thanks in Advance!

Yes it's possible :)

Take it one step at a time.

First setup the RPi (it is best to have one time connection to the internet for updates etc and then go offline once it is working)
https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/setup/

Second ... set it up as an access point. .... https://cdn-learn.adafruit.com/download ... -point.pdf

Then install a VNC server on the RPi and a VNC client on the Android.

Google is your friend. ;-)
