how automatic desktop login at startup

Sat Nov 05, 2016 8:50 pm

In raspi-config you have 4 options how to start up at reboot.
there are two options for desktop GUI.
Automatic as pi or with different user and loging.

Is it possible to have also an automatic login as a different user then the standard pi login?

Yes you can do that, you just have to edit a file and change the default username.

If you want autologin to the desktop

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
Scroll down to near the bottom of the file till you find the line "autologin-user=pi" and change the user name.
Save and exit nano and you're all set.

If you want autologin to the console, rather than the desktop, then do this edit.

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/autologin@.service
Scroll down until you see the line "ExecStart=-/sbin/agetty --autologin pi --noclear %I $TERM", and change the user name.
