Adafruit 8mm discrete Neopixels - Success

Has anyone got the 8mm Adafruit discrete Noepixels https://www.adafruit.com/product/1734 working reliably on a Pi 3

I have been struggling for the last day with this. I have tried a number of suggestion on the forum and elsewhere without success. I seem to be able to 'so of' talk to the Neopixel but the results are basally random. I am using a 74HCT125 so the data voltage level is not an issue I and I believe Adafruit instructions should work now with a pi 3

Taking one alternative suggestion on board I have just wired the Neopixel up to Arduino Nano and got it working straight away. I can stick with this and pass the colour data over a serial link from the Pi but I would like to do everything on the Pi if possible !

After reading through things again today I realised that I have not tried blacklisting the audio. Have done that now and all seems to work - well at least with one Neopixel, Yay

- in config.txt look for enable audio and comment out 'dtparam=audio=on' as shown below

Code: Select all

# Enable audio (loads snd_bcm2835)
#dtparam=audio=o
(you can find config.txt in /boot/)
