hdmi monitor doesn't power down when blanked

Sun Aug 07, 2016 12:00 pm

Hi all,
My monitor does not go into power saving mode when the screen blanks due to inactivity. Some time ago I found a solution to this that IIRC involved modifying a setting in either cmdline.txt or config.txt in the boot partition. I'm looking for that now and cannot find it, though there do seem to be several more involved solutions to this issue.

Any help pointing me to information about this setting is most appreciated!

thanks,
hank

Bump...

It seems foolish that in 2016 I have to hit the monitor power switch to turn the monitor off instead of the PC putting it to sleep like it should. My Pi uses a watt or two, the monitor 34.

Thanks!
