Pifacecad and LCDProc = Garbled text.

Fri Apr 03, 2015 9:04 pm

I have Raspberry Pi model B with a pifacecad. I was using it pretty normally with the pifacecad software. Now, I've decided to use lcdproc because a script I'd like to use requires it. I'm using the pi as a squeezebox player using squeezelite and a perl script that works through lcdproc called "lcd_lms.pl".

As far as I understand, lcdproc 0.5.7 should be already be patched to work with the pifacecad and it sort of does? I've installed lcdproc, adjusted the LCDd.conf file to show:

Code: Select all

[hd44780]

ConnectionType=pifacecad
Device=/dev/spidev0.1
Size=16x2
Backlight=yes
Keypad=yes
KeyMatrix_1_1=Left
KeyMatrix_1_2=Down
KeyMatrix_1_3=Up
KeyMatrix_1_4=Right
KeyMatrix_1_5=Escape
KeyMatrix_1_6=Enter
KeyMatrix_1_7=Left
KeyMatrix_1_8=Right
I've also changed the driver location to the correct location: /usr/local/lib/lcdproc/

I've turned on SPI in raspi-config. My init.d daemon script even works.

My only issue now is getting the lcd to show readable text! It's just a bunch of jumbled gobbly-gook.

Does anyone have any idea what could be happening? I feel like I'm doing everything right.

Thank you!
