Just got my new Raspberry Pi 7" touchscreen display. I have tried to power it from the uUSB marked PWR in but it does nothing however it does work when powered from the 5 pin header. Is this normal? Is there a schematic available?
Thanks.

I power mine through the microUSB connector.

The micro USB connector seems to do nothing on mine maybe I should send it back. When you power it from the micro USB how are you powering the Pi from another supply, the USB in or the jumper leads?

Thanks

I power the displayboard via the micro USB labeled PWR IN. 5V 2A supply!

And then power the Raspberry Pi via a an USB cable from PWR OUT on the display board to the PWR IN on the Raspberry Pi.

The cable I use is a short one from ebay.
This way nothing is blocking the GPIO connector.

See more photos of my setup here.

Do you have an additional, separate power supply to try powering the LCD from?

It's possible that your cable is bad, and there's simply too much voltage drop across it for the Raspberry Pi to fire up, which means the LCD display is never going to show any signs of life.
