I have been using the new screen mounted as originally described. However, as I often need to change the SD-card I needed to mount the raspberry and the screen in a different way because the manipulation of the card was very awkward.
Originally the SD-card is located inside the loop of the flat ribbon cable connecting the screen to the raspberry. Often the card slipped or I was pressing the card into the slot at a wrong angle when trying to change it.
However, if you turn the raspberry upside-down then the ribbon is underneath and the SD-slot is freely accessible - so now the manipulation of the card is much easier.
It is even possible to add a I2S-DAC below the raspberry - in this picture I'm using a IQaudIO DAC+ and the screen is powered via the power-out pins on the IQaudIO DAC+
